I found a deceivingly-simple\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bonappetit.com\/recipe\/pasta-with-sun-gold-tomatoes\">Mario Batali invention<\/a> which not only included ingredients\u00a0I already had but in the amounts I had. I was only worried that it\u00a0would be too predictable.<\/p>\n<p>Actually,\u00a0the result\u00a0was sublime, with flavors far more complex than I would have thought\u00a0possible with a bit of pasta, tomato, cheese, a bit of herb, and some breadcrumbs.<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, cheese <em>and<\/em> breadcrumbs.<\/p>\n<p>I made one substitution: Since the first course was clearly\u00a0going to include a generous amount of basil, I used\u00a0some mixed herbs (including a little basil) instead of basil alone, which the recipe suggested.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a caprese salad, assembled with one brilliant red ripe\u00a0heirloom tomato from Norwich Meadows Farm, fresh hand-rolled mozzarella from Valley Shepherd Creamery,\u00a0basil leaves\u00a0from Keith&#8217;s\u00a0Farm,\u00a0Maldon salt, freshly-ground Tellicherry pepper, and a Campania olive oil, D.O.P. Penisola Sorrentina \u2018<em>Syrenum<\/em>\u2019<\/li>\n<li>slices of a &#8216;Compagne&#8217; (traditional sourdough) from Bien Cuit Bakery via Foragers Market<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the recipe for the pasta is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bonappetit.com\/recipe\/pasta-with-sun-gold-tomatoes\">here<\/a>, but the ingredients I used\u00a0last night were\u00a0sun gold tomatoes from Stokes Farm; garlic from Alewife Farm; dried Itria-Sirissi chili (peperoncino di Sardegna intero) from Buon Italia; and Afeltra spaghetti alla chitarra, from Eataly;\u00a0a chopped herb mix of summer savory from Stokes Farm, oregano buds from Stokes Farm, and lovage and basil from Keith&#8217;s Farm; grated pecorino <em>and<\/em> Parmigiano Reggiano Vacche Rosse, both from Buon Italia;\u00a0and homemade breadcrumbs processed from a the heels of a variety of great breads<\/li>\n<li>the wine was an Italian (Sicily) white,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.astorwines.com\/SearchResultsSingle.aspx?p=1&amp;search=28419&amp;searchtype=Contains\">Catarratto IGT, Bosco Falconeria 2013<\/a><\/li>\n<li>the music was\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.arkivmusic.com\/classical\/album.jsp?album_id=87210\">Vivaldi&#8217;s 1714 opera, &#8216;Orlando Finto Pazzo&#8217;<\/a>,\u00a0Alessandro De Marchi\u00a0directing the Academia Montis Regalis and the Turin Teatro Regio Chorus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Batali&#8217;s good.
