pasta, 2 fennels, 2 peppers, allium, chili"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9046\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/caprese_with_radicchio.jpg\" alt=\"caprese_with_radicchio\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9047\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/penne_peppers_fennel.jpg\" alt=\"penne_peppers_fennel\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We eat at home almost every night, but it was an anniversary, so\u00a0we had made dinner reservations for Saturday night,\u00a0at a restaurant in Bushwick which we had really liked\u00a0on a previous visit.\u00a0A\u00a0few hours before we were to leave the apartment, knowing we would have to battle some mean\u00a0heat and humidity before we got there, we decided\u00a0to continue enjoying our\u00a0good humor and cancel, vowing to do it another day.<\/p>\n<p>We had done without it all day, but I now turned the AC on in the kitchen and breakfast room area, then\u00a0checked the refrigerator and the larder to see what I could put together.<\/p>\n<p>I came up with something that, under those circumstances, really had no right to taste\u00a0as good as it did.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a caprese salad which repeated the process of <a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/2016\/08\/07\/insalata-caprese-bass-oxalis-haricots-verts-fennel-flowers\/\">the night before<\/a>, but on a much smaller scale, and this time included a &#8216;bed&#8217; of leaves from\u00a0a head of radicchio from Tamrack Hollow Farm<\/li>\n<li>slices of a loaf of Bien Cuit &#8216;Campagne&#8217; from Foragers Market<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>about 8\u00a0ounces of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/setaro%20penne%20rigatoni%20from%20buon%20italia\/\">Setaro Penne Rigatoni<\/a>, from Buon Italia, tossed with a sauce\u00a0which started with 2 chopped garlic cloves from Alewife Farm\u00a0and a tablespoon or so of dry fennel seed heated in olive oil inside a large cast iron enameled pot\u00a0until\u00a0fragrant, adding\u00a0a little\u00a0cherry bomb\/red bomb pepper from Norwich Meadows Farm, finely slivered, and a couple handfuls of seeded and chopped sweet peppers of various colors and shapes from\u00a0Campo Rosso Farm, were saut\u00e9ed until softened, finished with\u00a0one good-sized, bulbous red scallion from Rise &amp;
