{"id":8584,"date":"2016-07-08T15:42:33","date_gmt":"2016-07-08T15:42:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/?p=8584"},"modified":"2016-07-08T15:42:33","modified_gmt":"2016-07-08T15:42:33","slug":"picnic-prosciutto-cheese-radishes-salad-olives-bread","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/?p=8584","title":{"rendered":"picnic: prosciutto, cheese, radishes, salad, olives, bread"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8585\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/picnic_prosciuto_etc.jpg\" alt=\"picnic_prosciuto_etc\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We occasionally enjoy what we call &#8216;picnics&#8217; at home (a table laden with <em>assembled<\/em> foods, not cooked, or at least not cooked by me that evening), on particularly warm evenings or on any other occasion when it makes sense and the concept feels particularly enticing.\u00a0 I can normally assemble this sort of thing without planning ahead, since we always have on hand most of what I would want to include in such a meal;\u00a0it&#8217;s just normally just a matter of deciding to put it together, and that adds to the appeal of the arrangement.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8595\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/particolor_radishes.jpg\" alt=\"particolor_radishes\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8596\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/radicchio.jpg\" alt=\"radicchio\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>this picnic spread included\u00a03 ounces of <em>Principe Prosciutto di San Daniele<\/em> from Whole Foods; mixed olives from Buon Italia (in a small black bowl almost out of the picture above); parti-colored radishes (&#8216;easter radishes&#8217;) which I had picked up from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.willowwisporganic.com\/\">Willow Wisp Organic Farm<\/a>\u00a0on their first day at the Union Square Greenmarket; a few\u00a0Backyard Farms Maine \u2018cocktail tomatoes\u2019 from Whole Foods sprinkled with calamint, aka <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blog.brockmanfamilyfarming.com\/2012\/06\/about-nepitella.html\">nepitella<\/a>; 4 cheeses (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.considerbardwellfarm.com\/\">Consider Bardwell Farm<\/a>&#8216;s goat cheese, &#8216;Manchester&#8217;,\u00a0their cow pasteurized cow cheese,\u00a0\u2018Experience\u2019, and their raw milk\u00a0cow cheese,\u00a0\u2018Dorset&#8217;, as well as a somewhat funky &#8216;Jean-Louis&#8217; semisoft cow milk cheese from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cowsoutside.com\/100-grass-fed-cowsmilk-cheeses\">Bobolink Dairy<\/a>); some \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/kerrygoldusa.com\/products?category=2\">Kerrygold Pure Irish Butter<\/a>\u2018, a salad composed of arugula from <a href=\"http:\/\/johndmadurafarms.com\/\">John D. Madura Farms<\/a>, radicchio from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/hawthornevalleyfarm.org\/\">Hawthorne Valley Farm<\/a>, sliced spring shallots from <a href=\"http:\/\/lanisfarm.blogspot.com\/\">Lani\u2019s Farm<\/a>, wild mint from <a href=\"http:\/\/newyork.seriouseats.com\/2010\/07\/market-scene-profiles-berried-treasures-union-square-greenmarket.html\">Berried Treasures Farm<\/a>,\u00a0parsley from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/stokesfarm.com\/\">Stokes Farm<\/a>; and slices of a very rich, moist, and very\u00a0sturdy rustic bread, the\u00a0fantastic 7-grain \u2018<em>Sette Grani<\/em>\u2018 of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.grandaisybakery.com\/\">Grandaisy<\/a><\/li>\n<li>the wine was a French (Provence) ros\u00e9,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chelseawinevault.com\/all\/famille-sumeire-chateau-coussin-le-rose-de-s-mediterranee-2015-sustainable\">Famille Sumeire Ch\u00e2teau Coussin Le Ros\u00e9 de S.
