{"id":8553,"date":"2016-07-04T22:41:29","date_gmt":"2016-07-04T22:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/?p=8553"},"modified":"2016-07-04T22:41:29","modified_gmt":"2016-07-04T22:41:29","slug":"4th-of-july-breakfast-more-than-american","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/?p=8553","title":{"rendered":"4th of July breakfast: much more than American"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8554\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/eggs_kielbasa_bacon_herbs.jpg\" alt=\"eggs_kielbasa_bacon_herbs\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was breakfast on the Fourth, but, like all worthy things American, it was a\u00a0healthy mix.<\/p>\n<p>It was basically\u00a0classic American fried eggs and bacon, but the eggs and the small pieces of bacon both came from an Amish farm, as did\u00a0the single link of &#8216;Polish&#8217; kielbasa; the toast was\u00a0from a heal of\u00a0a rustic French-style loaf, a Balthazar rye boule; the herbs were both traditional English (lovage and parsley) and very Italian (calamint); there were cuttings from spring\u00a0red-skin shallots, arguably pretty much a [new] American thing; finally, and probably\u00a0the most exotic,\u00a0an absolutely wonderful aromatic Middle-Eastern-style seasoning blend,\u00a0&#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyshuk.com\/shop\/lekama\">L\u2019eKama<\/a>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<p>There was excellent coffee: for me, espresso as usual, after an\u00a0iced milk (very American),\u00a0an iced Americano with milk for Barry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was breakfast on the Fourth, but, like all worthy things American, it was a\u00a0healthy mix.
