While we had enjoyed some very good seafood while we were there (Zander, Flu\u00dfkrebs, Dorsch, Flu\u00dfwels, Wei\u00dfer Heilbutt, Schwertfisch, and Atlantischer Lachs are what I remember, but there may have been others, and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_fish_in_Germany\">Germany offers a huge variety<\/a>), I hadn&#8217;t been able to cook any of it myself, and the variety of very fresh local fish available here, at the Union Square Greenmarket alone, presents\u00a0a wonderful &#8216;pool&#8217; for preparing\u00a0some great meals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8310\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/purple_snow_peas.jpg\" alt=\"purple_snow_peas\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>one Striped Bass fillet (about 14 ounces\u00a0for the two of us) from P.E. &amp; D.D. Seafood,\u00a0scored with several very shallow slashes on the skin side, to prevent curling, placed in a black ceramic\u00a0pan skin side down, scattered with lovage from Bodhitree Farms\u00a0(alternatively almost any fresh herb could be used), salt, pepper, some homemade dry bread crumbs, and a drizzle of olive oil, the pan placed in a 425\u00ba\u00a0oven for about 10\u00a0or 12 minutes, after which it was removed, divided into two pieces, before juice squeezed from\u00a0an\u00a0organic lemon from Whole Foods was drizzled over the top<\/li>\n<li>a large handful of tiny purple snow peas, with their flowers, from Norwich Meadows Farm, saut\u00e9ed very briefly in olive oil, seasoned, and arranged around the filets<\/li>\n<li>the greens from a bunch of small purple-top turnips from Norwich Meadows Farm, washed, wilted\u00a0in olive oil along with 4 small\u00a0organic garlic cloves from Whole Foods\u00a0which had been lightly-browned in the oil only just before, seasoned, and drizzled with olive oil<\/li>\n<li>the wine was a French (Chablis) white, <a href=\"http:\/\/chablisienne-com.blogspirit.com\/nos_vins\/\">La Chablisienne Pas Si Peti Petit Chablis 2014<\/a><\/li>\n<li>the music was from Q2 streaming (we were and are both too jet-lagged to remember\u00a0what it was)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was the first meal I prepared after our return from 3 weeks in Germany the day before.
