I&#8217;m definitely understanding the Italian attraction for\u00a0the antepasti, primi, secundi, contorni, formaggi, dolci thing, but, yeah, who has the time these days?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the pasta was some of\u00a0the sturdy chick pea creation <a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/2016\/04\/17\/pasta-e-ceci-with-foraged-garlic-mustard-greens\/\">we had enjoyed on Saturday<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7868\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/skate_broccoli_rabe.jpg\" alt=\"skate_broccoli_rabe\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the main course was prepared with\u00a07\u00a0small skate wings from P.E. &amp; D. D. Seafood, about 14 ounces altogether,\u00a0coated on both sides with a coarse polenta which had been\u00a0seasoned with salt and pepper, saut\u00e9ed in olive oil (and a bit of butter) for a very few minutes (about 7), turning once, removed, the pan\u00a0wiped with a paper towel, 1 1\/2 tablespoons of\u00a0butter, chopped ramps\u00a0from Mountain Sweet Berry Farm\u00a0and one sliced garlic clove from Whole Foods\u00a0introduced into it\u00a0and stirred over a lowered flame, followed by the addition of a little more butter (1 1\/2 tablespoons), juice from half of an organic lemon, and a mix of mostly chopped lovage from\u00a0Two Guys from Woodbridge and a little chopped parsley from\u00a0Eataly<\/li>\n<li>tender collard greens from Lani&#8217;s\u00a0Farm,\u00a0washed, drained, and\u00a0braised very lightly in a heavy pot in which two\u00a0halved garlic cloves from\u00a0Whole Foods had been allowed to sweat in some olive oil, the dish finished with salt, pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil<\/li>\n<li>the wine throughout was a French (Rh\u00f4ne) ros\u00e9, C\u00f4tes du Rh\u00f4ne Parall\u00e8le 45 2013, from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/philippe-liquors-new-york\">Philippe\u00a0Liquors<\/a><\/li>\n<li>the music throughout \u00a0was that of\u00a0<a class=\"noline\" href=\"http:\/\/www.arkivmusic.com\/classical\/Name\/Antoine-Forqueray\/Composer\/3912-1\">Antoine Forqueray<\/a>, his amazing &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/c\u00f4tes du Rh\u00f4ne Parall\u00e8le 45 2013\">Pieces de viole<\/a>&#8216;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sitting down to\u00a0the first course, because the pasta\u00a0looked so small in that broad\u00a0shallow bowl, I felt as if I was in the kind of\u00a0fancy restaurant\u00a0we seldom visit.
