{"id":774,"date":"2010-05-06T02:16:13","date_gmt":"2010-05-06T06:16:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.com\/?p=774"},"modified":"2010-05-06T02:16:13","modified_gmt":"2010-05-06T06:16:13","slug":"a-new-quebec-goats-milk-cheese","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/?p=774","title":{"rendered":"new Quebec goat&#8217;s milk cheese"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/food2.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/cendrillon_2.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/food2.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/cendrillon_31.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-786\" title=\"cendrillon_3\" src=\"http:\/\/food2.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/cendrillon_31.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"407\" height=\"271\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I picked up a &#8220;log&#8221; of a new goat&#8217;s milk cheese while I was at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edengourmet.com\/\">Garden of Eden<\/a> last week.\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.alexisdeportneuf.com\/products\/goat\/le-cendrillon.html#\/products\/goat\/le-cendrillon.html\">Le Cendrillon<\/a>&#8221; is described by the producer, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alexisdeportneuf.com\/\">Alexis de Portneuf<\/a>, as a &#8220;vegetable ash-covered cheese with a marble-textured rind and a smooth ivory body;\u00a0 acidulous , semi-strong taste that becomes more pronounced with age&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>I admit that I was pulled in by the attractive packaging, and by the information supplied on the small poster which was a part of the modest store display. \u00a0 It promised something <em>new<\/em> in a goat cheese, a promise which interested this foodie, already a fan of things goat, and it was completely fulfilled. \u00a0 I was also attracted by its geographic heritage:\u00a0 Le Cendrillon is a relatively-new goat cheese and it comes from Quebec.<\/p>\n<p>We enjoyed it tonight (May 6)\u00a0 at the end of a simple meal of pasta, accompanying it with the thinly-sliced and toasted heal of a one-week-old loaf of whole wheat from Amy&#8217;s Bread in the Chelsea Market, along with the last of the bottle of 2007 Corvo (Sicily) Insolia in from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/philippe-wine-and-liquor-new-york\">Philippe  Wine<\/a> in Chelsea<\/p>\n<p>[image from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canada.com\/life\/food\/Cinderella+story+Canadian+cheese+named+best+world\/2067909\/story.html\">canada.com<\/a>]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I picked up a &#8220;log&#8221; of a new goat&#8217;s milk cheese while I was at Garden of Eden last week.\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;Le Cendrillon&#8221; is described by the producer, Alexis de Portneuf, as a &#8220;vegetable ash-covered cheese with a marble-textured rind and a smooth ivory body;\u00a0 acidulous , semi-strong taste that becomes more pronounced with age&#8221;.
