Barry calls it comfort food.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Italian-grain Afeltra spaghetti from Eataly, cooked al dente, then tossed in a large, enameled cast iron pot in which two garlic cloves from Whole Foods, minced, and one dried\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sardissimo.com\/\">Itria-Sirissi<\/a>\u00a0chili (<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zafferanodisardegna.it\/peperoncino.htm#PEPERONCINO INTERO ITRIA\">peperoncino di Sardegna intero<\/a><\/em>) from Buon Italia were heated in some olive oil before they were joined by [lots of] clams from Blue Moon\u00a0Fish, along with their cooking juices, which had just been steamed with a little water in a separate pot until they had opened), the entire mix sprinkled with a bunch of parsley from Eataly and lovage from Windfall Farms, both chopped, then served in shallow bowls with an\u00a0Eric Kayser &#8216;baguette monge&#8217; on the table<\/li>\n<li>the wine was an Italian (Campania) white, <a href=\"http:\/\/fattorialarivolta.it\/shop\/bianchi\/falanghina-doc-0-75\/\">Taburno Falanghina del Sannio<\/a> 2014<\/li>\n<li>the music was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arkivmusic.com\/classical\/album.jsp?album_id=1262249\">Sir Edward\u00a0Elgar, Symphony No 2<\/a>, Barenboim conducting the Staatskapelle Berlin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/clam_shells_black_bowl.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7724\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7724\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/clam_shells_black_bowl.jpg\" alt=\"clam_shells_black_bowl\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>the black bowl barely\u00a0visible\u00a0in\u00a0the first image, cradling the\u00a0clam shells<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s almost impossible for me to go too long without craving a repeat of some version of this dish; last night it was again time for spaghetti and clams.
