It didn&#8217;t really work.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>seven 2\u00a0to\u00a03-ounce mackerel fillets from Pura Vida Seafood, washed, dried, brushed with olive oil, seasoned with salt and pepper, pan grilled over high heat for 6 or 7 minutes, turning once, removed and completed\u00a0with a salsa consisting of halved Backyard Farms Maine \u2018cocktail tomatoes\u2019 from\u00a0Whole Foods tossed with olive oil, wild brined\u00a0capers which had been rinsed and drained, juice from a strange large, heavily-seeded\u00a0lemon grown by Fantastic Gardens of Long Island, salt, and pepper, sprinkled with\u00a0&#8216;micro fennel\u2019 (sprouts) from Alewife Farm.\u00a0<em>[in fact, I think the subtlety\u00a0of the cut fennel sprouts was somewhat lost in\u00a0the intensity of this strong-flavored fish]<\/em><\/li>\n<li>about a quarter of a pound of turnip greens from Alewife Farm,\u00a0wilted\u00a0in olive oil along with two\u00a0garlic cloves from Whole Foods\u00a0which had been lightly-browned in the oil just before<\/li>\n<li>the wine was a Spanish (Rioja) white, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cvne.com\/en\/ct-vino\/monopole\/\">Monopole Cune white Rioja wine 2014<\/a><\/li>\n<li>the music was chamber works by Aulis Sallinen,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.naxos.com\/catalogue\/item.asp?item_code=ODE1256-2D\">on this album<\/a>, those\u00a0which had not been heard <a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/2016\/04\/01\/meat-spuds-market-fixings\/\">the night before<\/a>, again performed by\u00a0the\u00a0Sinfonia Finlandia, and the Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 Sinfonia Wind Quintet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This dish has appeared here a number of times already. \u00a0Although we both like it very much as it is, this time I tried to introduce a new element.
