I also thought that it had to be minimal\u00a0(that\u00a0would have seemed advisable tonight even if we had all the time in the world).<\/p>\n<p>Also, Barry loves artichokes in any form.<\/p>\n<p>The music choice was a cinch: Bach, and, arguably, at his most minimal, a performance of &#8216;The Well-Tempered Clavier&#8217;.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>twelve ounces of a 1-half kilo package of Italian artisan pasta, <em>Foglie al Carciofo<\/em> (artichoke leaves), from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maestripastai.it\/en\/\">Maestri Pastai Selection<\/a>, served with a simple sauce of chopped spring scallions from Lucky Dog Organic which had been\u00a0heated for a couple minutes in a little olive oil along with some dried\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sardissimo.com\/\">Itria-Sirissi<\/a>\u00a0chili (<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zafferanodisardegna.it\/peperoncino.htm#PEPERONCINO INTERO ITRIA\">peperoncino di Sardegna intero<\/a><\/em>) from Buon Italia, the sauced pasta briefly emulsified with some of the reserved pasta water\u00a0and\u00a0sprinkled\u00a0with freshly-ground Tellicherry pepper, then tossed with a little\u00a0upland cress from Stokes Farm and served in shallow bowls with grated \u2018Parmigiano Reggiano Bonat 3\u2019 from Buon Italia<\/li>\n<li>the wine was an Italian (Sardinia) white,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sellaemosca.it\/en\/legal.php?r=\/en\/vini_radici_sarde.php?id_sub=17&amp;id_art=382\">La Cala Vermentino di Sardegna 2013<\/a><\/li>\n<li>the music was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arkivmusic.com\/classical\/album.jsp?album_id=282685\">Bach&#8217;s Well-Tempered Clavier, Book I, played by Maurizio Pollini\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We had just come back from a staggeringly beautiful performance of Heiner Goebbels&#8217; production of Louis Andriessen&#8217;s &#8216;De Materie&#8217;, and it was\u00a0about 10:30, so dinner had to be quick.
