Unfortunately, at the time\u00a0I was reminded of\u00a0this, because I was\u00a0looking pretty closely at the printed text of a\u00a0dish absent for some time from our table,\u00a0I\u00a0didn&#8217;t have a single fresh crumb in the kitchen.<\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t been buying bread as often as I used to, so, for the same reason why there was no bread, there were\u00a0barely enough homemade <em>dry<\/em> breadcrumbs in the overhead cabinet.<\/p>\n<p>The dish works very well with the dry, but fresh crumbs, briefly saut\u00e9ed like these, would be more fun, just as crunchy, but with a little bounce in the bite.<\/p>\n<p>And then there was\u00a0some excellent\u00a0cime di rapa.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/broccoli_di_raab.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6204\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/broccoli_di_raab.jpg\" alt=\"broccoli_di_raab\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>half of a pound of an\u00a0excellent artisanal Puglian\u00a0pasta,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.benedettocavalieri.it\/portfolio-items\/41-orecchiette\/\">Benedetto Cavalieri \u2018Single Orecchiette\u2019<\/a> and half a pound of broccoli rabe from Lani&#8217;s Farm, bottom stems removed and the\u00a0rest of the greens\u00a0roughly chopped, all boiled together in a large pot of salted water until the pasta was <em>al dente<\/em>, a cup\u00a0of the water reserved just before the orecchiette\u00a0was drained and tossed into a separate deep heavy pot in which 3 garlic cloves, 3 salted anchovies (rinsed and filleted), and more than one\u00a0not-so-very-hot Cayenne thin red pepper from Oak Grove Plantation\u00a0had been slowly heated until the garlic had colored lightly, everything (including a judicious amount of the reserved pasta water) then tossed\/stirred over a low-to-moderate flame for a couple of minutes to blend the flavors and the ingredients before being served, sprinkled with half\u00a0of a cup of dry homemade\u00a0breadcrumbs which had been browned earlier in olive oil with a pinch of salt<\/li>\n<li>the wine was an Italian (Sicily) red, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.duca.it\/en\/vino-corvo\/corvo-rosso\/\">Corvo Nero d\u2019Avola 2012<\/a><\/li>\n<li>the music was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arkivmusic.com\/classical\/album.jsp?album_id=799369\">Sibelius Symphony No.5, Leonard Bernstein conducting\u00a0the New York Philharmonic<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>so very Puglian, and that&#8217;s a very good thing &nbsp; It&#8217;s a classic pasta\u00a0preparation\u00a0from Puglia, and I&#8217;ve prepared it many times, but last night when I began to revisit orecchiette con cime di rapa I had almost forgotten that this particular\u00a0recipe, which I had started working with with many years ago, calls for fresh bread &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-6191","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-meals-at-home"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6191","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=6191"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/6191\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=6191"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=6191"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=6191"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
