and the savory buds &#8211; I could not help thinking\u00a0of all that I will miss once this summer is past.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">two thick loin lamb chops from 3-Corner Field Farm (two\u00a0servings), thoroughly dried, cooked on a very hot enameled cast iron grill pan for about 4\u00a0minutes on each side, seasoned only\u00a0after having\u00a0been seared, then removed from the pan and each topped\u00a0with about a dozen slightly-crushed\u00a0ramp fruit from Berried Treasures, the \u2018buds\u2019 having been\u00a0heated earlier\u00a0in\u00a0a bit of olive oil, the chops finished with a squeeze of lemon and a drizzle of olive oil<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">yellow flat\u00a0pole beans from Norwich Meadows Farm, blanched, drained and dried, then reheated in oil, finished with salt, pepper, and\u00a0fresh fennel seed from Lani&#8217;s Farm<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">orange and green (two kinds) heirloom tomatoes from Berried Treasures, sliced thinly and arranged in low bowls with a bit of good olive oil, white balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, and torn local (Brooklyn) basil leaves, Gotham Greens Rooftop packaged basil, from Whole Foods<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\">the wine was a luscious super California red, <a href=\"https:\/\/us.nakedwines.com\/wines\/rox-scott-peterson-all-blacks--sonoma-county-2013.htm\">ROX Scott Peterson All Blacks Sonoma County 2013<\/a>, which includes\u00a0five different black grapes from Sonoma; when I tasted it I thought that it almost certainly included some Zinfandel, but not in the usual heavy, scary California form which is incompatible with\u00a0almost any food, and I just learned on line, from S<a href=\"https:\/\/us.nakedwines.com\/winemakers\/scott-peterson.htm\">cott Peterson, the maker<\/a>, that it&#8217;s\u00a0close to these percentages:\u00a034 % Sonoma Coast Syrah; \u202844% Old Vine Zinfandel Russian River\/Dry Creek Sonoma County;\u2028 11% Petite Sirah Dry Creek Sonoma County; \u20286% Grenache\u2028; 5% Mourvedre<\/li>\n<li>the music was from the 2015\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.icelandmusic.is\/music\/artists\/nordic-affect\">Nordic Affect<\/a> album, &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.icelandmusic.is\/music\/news\/q2-music-name-nordic-affects-clockworking-album-of-the-week\/1754\/\">Clockworking<\/a>&#8216;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Prior\u00a0to the meat course, there was a <em>primi<\/em>, a revisit of <a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/2015\/09\/18\/pasta-fennel-pollenseed-tomato-hot-pepper-mint\/\">a pasta from three days earlier<\/a>\u00a0boasting the addition of some fresh herbs (spearmint from Lani&#8217;s Farm and summer savory and lovage, both from Keith&#8217;s Farm) and a drizzle of good olive oil.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the wine with that pasta\u00a0was a French white,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chelseawinevault.com\/hecht-bannier-blanc-languedoc-2014\">Hecht &amp; Bannier Blanc Languedoc 2014<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There was also a cheese course, which included two cheeses from Consider Bardwell, &#8216;Manchester\u2019 and &#8216;Slybro&#8217;, both made from goat\u00a0milk,\u00a0served with\u00a0some very, <em>very<\/em> thin\u00a0slices of &#8216;Integrale&#8217; bread from Eataly, toasted in our McGraw Electric\u00a0Toastmaster (introduced in 1936, the year our apartment building was completed).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was a pretty colorful meal, and a tasty one, but, while enjoying the herbs &#8211;
