cauliflower, tomato, fennel, basil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/scallops_cauliflower_tomato3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4625\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/scallops_cauliflower_tomato3.jpg\" alt=\"scallops_cauliflower_tomato\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note to self: \u00a0Yes, and very yes. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know of any reason why this simple entr\u00e9e should have turned out better than anything<strong>s scallop-related<\/strong>\u00a0I&#8217;d prepared\u00a0in the past, but it did. \u00a0And the cauliflower\/tomato\/fennel dish was just as tasty as the shellfish.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I had bought scallops earlier in the day at the greenmarket, largely because we werenfresh garlic from Lucky Dog Organic &#8216;t certain how long we might be at <a href=\"http:\/\/us6.campaign-archive1.com\/?u=685b1a564fefff23c28e512cc&amp;id=e99180fa4e\">Jade Townsend&#8217;s Crazy Garage Sale<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0evening, and scallops take only minutes from start to finish. \u00a0It would be accompanied by a small head of golden cauliflower I already had on hand and was keeping an eye on, and I knew I could do\u00a0all kinds\u00a0of good things with it\u00a0that wouldn&#8217;t take much longer.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ten sea scallops from Pura Vida Fisheries, washed, rinsed and dried <em>very<\/em>\u00a0thoroughly, then pan grilled,\u00a0finished with a squeeze of lemon juice, and drizzled with olive oil [the simple procedure\u00a0is included in Rose Gray and Ruth Rogers&#8217; &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.strandbooks.com\/italian-3\/italian-easy-recipes-from-the-river-cafe\">Italian Easy: Recipes from the London River Cafe<\/a>&#8216;, possibly the most indispensable\u00a0volume in my kitchen library, as I have found so many of my favorite, and simplest, recipes there]<\/li>\n<li>flowerets of a ten-ounce golden cauliflower from Norwich Meadows Farm,\u00a0saut\u00e9ed in a pan in which fresh garlic from Lucky Dog Organic, some crushed dried chili\u00a0peppers and fennel seeds had been heated, the mix then braised for a few minutes along with halved and seeded Maine cherry \u2018cocktail\u2019 tomatoes from Whole Foods, finished with fresh basil leaves torn off of\u00a0a live plant\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/happyvalleyorganics.net\/potted-herbs\">Full Bloom Market Garden<\/a>, Whately, Massachusetts), also from Whole Foods [the recipe appears <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seriouseats.com\/recipes\/2010\/03\/cauliflower-with-fennel-seeds-recipe.html\">here<\/a>]<\/li>\n<li>the wine was a Portuguese white, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chelseawinevault.com\/all\/vaca-das-cordas-vinho-verde-2014\">Vaca das Cordas Vinho Verde 2014<\/a><\/li>\n<li>the music,\u00a0in addition to works by other composers broadcast on Counterstream Radio that evening, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CAoCJxE1Wtc\">Frank Zappa, &#8216;Times Beach III&#8217;<\/a>, from the 1993 album, &#8216;Yellow Shark&#8217;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
