{"id":4511,"date":"2015-07-12T21:41:37","date_gmt":"2015-07-12T21:41:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/?p=4511"},"modified":"2015-07-12T21:41:37","modified_gmt":"2015-07-12T21:41:37","slug":"steak-with-savory-grilled-scapes-roasted-radishes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/?p=4511","title":{"rendered":"steak with savory; grilled scapes; roasted radishes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/steak_scapes_radishes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4515\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/steak_scapes_radishes.jpg\" alt=\"steak_scapes_radishes\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While we were enjoying this meal two weeks\u00a0back, Barry said\u00a0that he doesn&#8217;t want to have steak unless it&#8217;s as good as this one.<\/p>\n<p>I hadn&#8217;t really planned a dinner for that Saturday evening, so it was serendipity\u00a0when\u00a0we found ourselves in the West Village, more or less shut out (because of the enormous line) of the last day of Gavin Brown&#8217;s crowd-drawing and crowd-pleasing\u00a0show, &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/06\/26\/arts\/design\/review-art-that-snorts-from-jannis-kounellis-at-gavin-browns-enterprise.html?_r=0\">Untitled: 12 Horses<\/a>&#8216;. \u00a0Barry suggested we walk a bit further in the rain and check out what\u00a0the people at <a href=\"http:\/\/hudsonandcharles.com\/\">Hudson &amp; Charles<\/a> might be able to tempt us with, and we went hiome with two beautiful Delmonico steaks.<\/p>\n<p>We had a\u00a0small cheese course after the entr\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Delmonico steaks from Hudson &amp; Charles finished with lemon, savory from Berried Treasures, a drizzle of olive oil on the steaks after they had been pan grilled<\/li>\n<li>breakfast radishes from Rogowski Farm, roasted on a small Pampered Chef pan with branches of thyme from Eckerton Hill<\/li>\n<li>garlic scapes from\u00a0John D. Madura Farm, tossed in olive oil, salt, and pepper, then pan grilled<\/li>\n<li>the cheese was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mainegoatcheese.com\/goat-cheese-shop.php?Pearl-with-Bloomy-Rind-20\">&#8216;Pearl&#8217;, from\u00a0Seal Cove Farm<\/a>\u00a0(a pasteurized goat and cows&#8217; milk\u00a0cheese from Lamoine, Maine), Maine, served with\u00a0toasts of\u00a0a\u00a0sourdough b\u00e2tard from She Wolf Bakery at the Greenmarket<\/li>\n<li>the wine was a California red, <a href=\"https:\/\/us.nakedwines.com\/wines\/jacqueline-bahue-cabernet-franc-lodi-2013.htm\">Jacqueline Bahue Cabernet Franc, Lodi 2013<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While we were enjoying this meal two weeks\u00a0back, Barry said\u00a0that he doesn&#8217;t want to have steak unless it&#8217;s as good as this one.
