Sometimes I don&#8217;t realize this until I&#8217;ve snapped the picture, and then of course it&#8217;s too late.<\/p>\n<p>Especially before I added a rasher of bacon, the breakfast\/lunch I put on the table today, while not quite limited to a single color, certainly didn&#8217;t look as parti-colored as the ones we enjoyed this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately neither the eggs nor the &#8216;ham&#8217; were actually green.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19901\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/green-eggs-and-ham-netflix.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the ingredients of the meal were, eggs from pastured [<em>green<\/em>] Americauna chickens and thick bacon from pastured pigs, both products of Millport Dairy Farm; local (regional)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.organicvalley.coop\/products\/butter\/pasture-butter\/\">Organic Valley \u2018Cultured Pasture Butter\u2019<\/a>\u00a0from Whole Foods Market; finely-chopped pieces of a green scallion from Stokes Farm, chopped sections form one Berried Treasures green garlic scape, and a fresh green aji rico pepper from Eckerton Hill Farm; Maldon salt; freshly-ground black pepper; a pinch or so of\u00a0a dry seasoning (not green) called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyshuk.com\/lekama\/\">L\u2019ekama<\/a>\u00a0from Ron &amp; Leetal Arazi\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyshuk.com\/\">New York Shuk<\/a>; chopped green dill from Stokes Farm;\u00a0and pieces cut from an\u00a0organic multigrain baguette from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breadalone.com\">Bread Alone, <\/a>and not toasted,\u00a0that, surprisingly, had survived for several days without turning green after its purchase in the Union Square Greenmarket on Friday<\/li>\n<li>the music was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arts-florissants.com\/main\/en_GB\/all-the-cds\/music-for-queen-caroline-cd-eng.html\">Handel&#8217;s &#8216;Music for Queen Caroline&#8217;, William Christie directing the Choir and Orchestra of Les Arts Florissants,\u00a0<\/a>after which we listened to the incredibly gorgeous, ethereal,\u00a0<a style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hyperion-records.co.uk\/dc.asp?dc=D_CDA68192\">&#8216;Missa Videte miraculum&#8217; of Nicholas Ludford<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\" style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;\">(c. 1485-c. 1557), a little-known composer of the English renaissance (with works of Tudor polyphony) who grew up during the reign of Henry VII and died on the cusp the Elizabethan age<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[the second image, a cartoon used to advertise the Dr. Seuss TV series adaptation, is <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2015\/tv\/news\/green-eggs-tv-show-netflix-1201462572\/\">from Netflix<\/a>]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maybe it&#8217;s just the season, but without intending it, lately I seem to be coming up with almost monochromatic meals.
