It was pretty German, but with Mexican and French touches in the wine and the music.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>four links of <a style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;\" href=\"https:\/\/schallerweber.com\/product\/bauernwurst\/\">Schaller &amp; Weber Bauernwurst<\/a><span style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;\"> (a smokey pork and beef sausage, with pepper, garlic and marjoram), heated inside an oval enameled cast iron pan until the skin had blistered, served with\u00a0a classic German mustard,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/store.mustardmuseum.com\/product\/3040\/german-mustards\">L\u00f6wensenf Medium\u00a0<\/a>(and, not in the picture, a luscious German pepper pickle,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/1876.hengstenberg.com\/products_hengstenberg1876\/saucen_dips\/red_pepper_steak_sauce\">Hengstenberg 1876 Red Pepper Steak Sauce<\/a>, both purchased at the same <a href=\"https:\/\/schallerweber.com\/brick-mortar\/new-york-store\/\">Schaller &amp; Webber store<\/a>, which has been located\u00a0for almost 80 years in what was once the Manhattan German community of Yorkville\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>ten or 12 ounces of small sweet and delicious Pinto (or\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnnyseeds.com\/vegetables\/potatoes\/pinto-gold-potato-tubers-3282.html\">Pinto Gold<\/a>) potatoes from Norwich Meadows Farm,\u00a0boiled with a good amount of salt in the water only until barely cooked through, drained, halved, dried while inside the large, still-warm vintage\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ndga.net\/articles\/gmflameware.php\">Corning Pyrex Flameware glass pot<\/a>\u00a0in which they had cooked, a tablespoon or so of butter added, seasoned with a bit of Maldon salt and freshly-ground black pepper, sprinkled with toasted home-made breadcrumbs and garnished with micro red mustard from\u00a0Two Guys from Woodbridge<\/li>\n<li>one pale yellow Hungarian pepper from Stokes Farm, cut lengthwise into quarters, and 2 aji dulce peppers (not hot) from Eckerton Hill Farm, the seeds and membranes removed from both, saut\u00e9ed over a high or medium high flame inside a large, heavy, antique high-sided copper pot until slightly caramelized, one medium fresh\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/2017\/02\/28\/the-habanada-pepper-fresh-and-dried-two-ways\/\">habanada pepper<\/a>\u00a0from Alewife Farm added near the end,\u00a0seasoned with sea salt, freshly-ground black pepper and tossed with leaves of a basil plant from Two Guys from Woodbridge, torn, and served with a drizzle of olive oil<\/li>\n<li>the wine was a California (Napa) red,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.campesinocellars.com\/copy-of-campesino\">Macario Montoya<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/us.nakedwines.com\/wines\/sin-fronteras-el-mechon-red-blend-california-2017?cid=US\">Sin Fronteras El Mechon California Red Blend 2017<\/a>, from <a href=\"https:\/\/us.nakedwines.com\/full_site\">Naked Wines<\/a><\/li>\n<li>the music too was, in a way, <em>sin fronteras<\/em>, since it celebrated an event that &#8220;..culminates in a grand procession of the Human Race, dancing and singing in praise of Liberty. [without frontiers]&#8221;; it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Gossec-Triomphe-Republique-Camp-Grand\/dp\/B00118FB3G\">&#8216;Le Triomphe de la R\u00e9publique ou Le Camp de Grand Pr\u00e9&#8217;, by Francois-Joseph Gossec, performed by\u00a0I Barocchisti, conducted by\u00a0Diego Fasolis<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>German-isch again.
