Most of its interest is supplied by the purple micro basil. Although it definitely adds something to the flavor of a dish, it&#8217;s the delicate shape, and especially the color, that makes it sing, and demands that it be &#8216;heard&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise this was a fairly routine Sunday <em>breakfast-and-we&#8217;re-not-going-to-need-lunch<\/em> meal.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It included Milport Dairy Farm Americauna chicken eggs with blue shells and the same Lancaster County Amish farm&#8217;s thick bacon, Maldon Salt, some coarsely-ground black pepper, a bit of a bit of a homemade Basque\u00a0\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Espelette_pepper\">piment d\u2019Espellate<\/a><\/em>\u00a0we purchased in a small town north of Baie-Comeau, Quebec from the French producer\u2019s daughter, a pinch or two of fenugreek\u00a0dried fenugreek from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bombayemeraldchutneyco.com\/\">Bombay Emerald Chutney Company\u00a0<\/a>that I had purchased at the Saturday Chelsea Farmers Market, thinly-sliced pieces from\u00a0the stem of a flowering spring shallot from Keith&#8217;s Farm that were heated in a little olive oil until they were softened, softly-toasted slices of 2 different &#8216;second-or-third-day&#8217; breads,\u00a0She Wolf Bakery&#8217;s Toasted Sesame Wheat, and a polenta boule from Bread Alone<\/li>\n<li>it was a beautiful <del>morning<\/del>\u00a0early afternoon, the breakfast room windows were open, and the music was the album, &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B000009CLM\/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_PzIxBb0FA2A14\">Afternoon Ragas Rotterdam 1970<\/a>&#8216;, with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nikhil_Banerjee\">Nikhil Banerjee<\/a>, sitar, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=az8OKwXjoPc\">Kanai Dutta<\/a>, tabla (it was so rich that it occasionally sounded like a larger ensemble)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I feel like I cheated with this picture.
