{"id":1802,"date":"2014-07-08T14:13:48","date_gmt":"2014-07-08T14:13:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/?p=1802"},"modified":"2014-07-08T14:13:48","modified_gmt":"2014-07-08T14:13:48","slug":"picnic-at-home-in-chelsea-summer-place","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/?p=1802","title":{"rendered":"picnic at home in Chelsea summer place"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/picnic_July_2014.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1803\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/picnic_July_2014.jpg\" alt=\"picnic_July_2014\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>no bugs, no rain<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yes, by now it should be clear that we spent the Fourth of July in our summer place on 23rd Street, where we almost always holiday.<\/p>\n<p>In the first two of the three days of the extended weekend we had a meal dominated by\u00a0fish (a pretty American meal, even if, since it was in\u00a0a particularly\u00a0New England form, it was somewhat esoteric American). \u00a0Dinner on the second day\u00a0included\u00a0grilled red meat\u00a0(a feast almost, but not quite of the classic American cookout\u00a0sort,\u00a0since\u00a0lamb still doesn&#8217;t conjure up thoughts of\u00a0the typical American barbecue, and because it was enjoyed indoors).\u00a0\u00a0On the third\u00a0day we had a simple picnic, but once again we probably missed the point of the genuine Fourth, since this\u00a0picnic was\u00a0indoors. \u00a0Also, there was no chicken.<\/p>\n<p>I had decided to work with the warm weather, meaning I would avoid\u00a0cooking altogether, so I assembled what we call a picnic, something we do on occasion to vary the kitchen routine and to enjoy an even more\u00a0leisurely pace, whether before, during, or\u00a0after\u00a0dinner, than I can normally arrange.<\/p>\n<p>All of the food was gathered from\u00a0what we already had on hand, making the meal\u00a0even more\u00a0relaxed. \u00a0There was prosciutto (packaged, from Whole Foods, and honestly quite good); sliced yellow tomatoes from Stokes Farm, topped with\u00a0Mountain Sweet Berry Farm\u00a0lovage;\u00a0a small simply-dressed salad (treviso from Queens County Farm, topped with\u00a0chives from S &amp; SO Produce Farms); \u00a0four cheeses (Paglierino and Salva Cremasco from Eataly,\u00a0Willoughby of\u00a0Cellars at Jasper Hill from the New Amsterdam Market, and\u00a0Garrotxa from Citarella); and an Italian rye bread from Eataly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The wine was an Australian, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yalumba.com\/vintage.asp?p=154&amp;b=15&amp;l=454&amp;v=7712\">Yalumba Y Series Viognier 2013<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Oh, and those red tomatoes?
