It was the day after Thanksgiving, and something of a palate cleanser (as well as a <em>cook<\/em> cleanser).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14692\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/golden_tomatoes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was also entirely local, with the\u00a0normal\u00a0exceptions of olive oil, salt, pepper, lemon (when used), and (sometimes) hot pepper.<\/p>\n<p>I wasn&#8217;t going to bother posting this little meal, since it seemed pretty insignificant, and then I realized its convenience could be useful to\u00a0people other than just myself.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>two sliced Rocambole garlic cloves\u00a0from Keith&#8217;s Farm, heated in a little olive oil over medium heat, along with one\u00a0dried peperoncino Calabresi secchi from Buon Italia, inside a large tin-lined high-sided copper\u00a0pot\u00a0until the garlic was pungent,\u00a0joined then by one large fresh chopped<a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/?s=habanada+pepper\">\u00a0Habanada pepper<\/a>\u00a0and 3 thin red scallions, chopped , which were stirred for a minute inside the pot,\u00a0before a dozen or so ripe golden cherry tomatoes from Norwich Meadows Farm were added and briefly warmed, some chopped fresh\u00a0lovage from Two Guys from Woodbridge,\u00a0the mix stirred a little\u00a0before 10 or 12 ounces of house-made Rana\u00a0<em>carciofi<\/em>-filled ravioli (purchased at Eataly Flatiron),\u00a0<em>boiled for barely 3 minutes<\/em>\u00a0before being drained, were\u00a0tossed into the pot with some reserved pasta cooking water, the pasta carefully stirred with the sauce over medium heat for a while to emulsify it, served inside 2 shallow bowls, a bit of olive oil drizzled around the edges, and sprinkled with toasted home-made breadcrumbs and a little more lovage [the pasta filling was composed of artichokes; olive oil;\u00a0<em>cacio de roma<\/em>, a semi-soft sheep\u2019s milk cheese made in the Roman countryside; parmigiano; anchovy; tomato; parsley; and basil]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There was a cheese course, mimicking the one we had the day before, but without apples, and with a smaller amount of pressed curd.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>three Consider Bardwell Farm cheeses: \u2018Manchester\u2019 goat milk cheese, and 2 cow cheeses, \u2018Pawlet Reconsidered\u2019, and \u2018Bardem Blue\u2019<\/li>\n<li>toasts from a whole wheat sourdough\u00a0<em>Miche<\/em>, or<em>\u00a0Pain de campagne<\/em>,<em>\u00a0<\/em>from Bread Alone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the wine throughout the meal was an Italian (Lazio) white, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.castelloditorreinpietra.it\/cantina\/elephas_bianco.htm\">&#8216;Elephas&#8217; Bianco, Castello di Torre 2016<\/a>, from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.astorwines.com\/Default.aspx\">Astor Wines<\/a><\/li>\n<li>the music was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arkivmusic.com\/classical\/album.jsp?album_id=40718\">Carl Nielsen&#8217;s 1921-1922 Symphony No. 5, Myung-Whun Chung\u00a0conducting the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was delicious, and it was whipped together in a few minutes, thanks to good store-bought ravioli and\u00a0a few small treasures I was\u00a0fortunate to find\u00a0lying around the kitchen.
