I&#8217;ve been enjoying using German names to describe food normally not specific to German cookery, but I wasn&#8217;t tempted this time, especially\u00a0if I was also going to include the name of the vegetable that accompanied this wonderful dish.<\/p>\n<p>And while both the German and the Italian names\u00a0(the latter translates as &#8216;tail of a toad&#8217;) describe the fish\u00a0itself better than the English, &#8216;monkfish&#8217;, none of them\u00a0comes close to describing\u00a0the taste of its flesh, its&#8217; tail&#8217;, which is so much\u00a0more pleasant\u00a0than its scary mug.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>two 9-ounce monkfish\u00a0tails\u00a0from P.E. &amp; D.D. Seafood, prepared\u00a0using\u00a0a David Pasternak\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=XXPsU3lT8KoC&amp;pg=PA37&amp;lpg=PA37&amp;dq=inguazato+Pasternak&amp;source=bl&amp;ots=lrbi3H-sr3&amp;sig=WvEv0ly7MWs6ra3ALVQszwRgoMs&amp;hl=en&amp;sa=X&amp;ei=gJwKVMLXFqzisASLp4Ig&amp;ved=0CCoQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&amp;q=inguazato%20Pasternak&amp;f=false\">recipe<\/a>\u00a0which includes\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/10\/01\/dining\/01cous.html\">M\u2019hamsa Couscous<\/a>\u00a0from Tunisia (purchased at Whole Foods), olive oil, sliced garlic John D. Madura Farm,\u00a0two 400-gram cans of really superb\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eataly.com\/product\/baby-roma-tomatoes\">Mutti baby Roma tomatoes<\/a>\u00a0from Eataly (which are also available at Whole Foods), and cracked Sicilian green olives from Whole Foods, and\u00a02 whole dried Sicilian pepperoncino from Buon Italia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14568\" src=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/romanesco_Alewife-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"li1\">one small head of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/?s=romanesco+\">Romanesco broccoli<\/a>\u00a0from Alewife Farm, broken up into florets, tossed with a little olive oil (not too much, to\u00a0ensure a\u00a0slightly crispy, slightly carbonized\u00a0finish), salt, pepper, and one crushed section of a dark dried\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/?s=habanada+pepper\">habanada pepper<\/a>, the mix\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">spread onto a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pamperedchef.com\/shop\/Stoneware\/Large+Bar+Pan\/1445\">Pampered Chef unglazed ceramic pan<\/a>\u00a0and roasted at 400\u00ba for about 25 minutes, some slices of\u00a0a\u00a0<em>fresh<\/em> habanada pepper added to the pan a few minutes before the\u00a0broccoli was <\/span><span class=\"s1\">removed from the oven, the mix stirred and\u00a0arranged on the plate<\/span><\/li>\n<li>the wine was\u00a0an Italian (Sardinia) white,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vivino.com\/wineries\/sella-and-mosca-spa\/wines\/la-cala-vermentino-di-sardegna-2015\">La Cala Vermentino di Sardegna\u00a02015<\/a><\/li>\n<li>the music was that of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Carl_Nielsen\">Carl Nielsen, i<\/a>ncluding several chamber works the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.arkivmusic.com\/classical\/album.jsp?album_id=40718\">Symphony no 1 in G minor<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Say it fast: &#8216;coda di rospo inguazato con broccoli romanesco&#8216;.
