While the meal\u00a0looks fairly straightforward in the picture, at least by my bacon-&amp;-eggs custom, there were definitely even more herbs and spices than usual.<\/p>\n<p>NOTE; Not quite visible\u00a0in the photo\u00a0was my pleasure in having finally\u00a0kept 6 yokes intact on their voyage from shell to table; I&#8217;m rarely able to manage that.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the elements that arrived on the plates were: thick slices of bacon and large very fresh pullet eggs from Millport Dairy Farm; lightly-toasted slices of 2 breads, a ciabatta from Bread Alone (local unbleached wheat flours), and a Bien Cuit \u2018Campagne\u2019 traditional sour dough from Foragers Market; a bit of sliced green stem\u00a0from a Scarlet scallion and one finely-slice fresh <a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/?s=habanada+pepper\">habanada pepper<\/a>\u00a0(the first of the season!) both\u00a0from Norwich Meadows Farm; a pinch of\u00a0 L&#8217;ekama in dry spice form from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyshuk.com\/shop\/\">NYShuk Pantry<\/a>; chopped lovage from Keith&#8217;s Farm; a pinch of dried fenugreek from Nirmala Gupta\u2019s \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/bombayemeraldchutneyco.com\/info.html\">Bombay Emerald Chutney Company<\/a>\u2018 at Chelsea\u2019s Down to Earth Farmers Market on 23rd Street;\u00a0a bit of\u00a0fresh fennel seed from Berried Treasures; rich\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.organicvalley.coop\/products\/butter\/pasture-butter\/\">Organic Valley \u2018Cultured Pasture Butter\u2019<\/a>; Maldon salt, freshly-ground Tellicherry pepper; and some strands of fresh (micro) fennel from Windfall Farm<\/li>\n<li>the meal was late, but the music choice, a set of evening songs set by Monteverdi, didn&#8217;t quite reflect the hour: was\u00a0Monteverdi&#8217;s incredibly-beautiful 1610\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Monteverdi-Vespers-Blessed-Virgin-CDs\/dp\/B0015RWB1I\">&#8216;Vespers of the Blessed Virgin&#8217;, performed by the\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Monteverdi-Vespers-Blessed-Virgin-CDs\/dp\/B0015RWB1I\">English Baroque Soloists and John Eliot Gardiner<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It wasn&#8217;t Sunday breakfast, and we can&#8217;t even pretend it was brunch; we had our first meal of the day somewhere between the hours when decent folks have their lunches and dinners.
