I would prefer not to have to look at <em>it<\/em> under any circumstances, and in particular staring up at me from\u00a0the breakfast table. Nevertheless,\u00a0I have noticed that\u00a0various shades of orange\u00a0have been appearing very prominently in a number of the meals described here lately [whose ingredients all come by their\u00a0colorings naturally &#8211;\u00a0<em>Ed.<\/em>].<\/p>\n<p>The color\u00a0may not have been more prominent, at least until now, than in this Sunday breakfast.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>six eggs and and 4 thick bacon slices from a package of &#8216;ends\u2019 I had cut by hand at home, both ingredients from Millport Dairy; around a\u00a0dozen sun gold\u00a0heirloom tomatoes from Stokes Farm, halved, and not cooked; one very small &#8216;red wing\u2019 onion from Keith\u2019s Farm, finely sliced; one chopped no-heat Habanada pepper from Norwich Meadows Farm; Maldon salt and freshly-ground Tellicherry pepper; parsley from Norwich Meadows Farm and rosemary from from Phillips Farm, both finely chopped; purple micro radish\u00a0from Windfall Farm, and\u00a0a superb aromatic seasoning blend called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyshuk.com\/lekama\/\">L\u2019eKama<\/a><\/li>\n<li>the\u00a0toast was made on my\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.camp-a-toaster.com\/\">\u2018Camp-A-Toaster\u2019<\/a>\u00a0[see <a href=\"http:\/\/food.hoggardwagner.org\/2016\/02\/08\/thick-bacon-fresh-eggs-tarragon-salt-pepper-real-toast\/\">this post<\/a>] and the bread used was a day-old, Orwasher&#8217;s multigrain, seeded baguette\u00a0purchased the previous afternoon at <a href=\"http:\/\/downtoearthmarkets.com\/markets?region=Manhattan&amp;market=Chelsea+Farmers+Market\">Chelsea\u2019s Down to Earth Farmers Market<\/a>, cut in rather short\u00a0segments\u00a0along its length, each\u00a0sliced in 3 horizontal layers<\/li>\n<li>normally we choose some classical piece of &#8216;sacred&#8217; music as an allusion to the traditional (Christian) cultural Sunday, but this day we went with a complete performance of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arkivmusic.com\/classical\/album.jsp?album_id=6419\">Wagner&#8217;s\u00a0shortened 1843 version of his &#8216;Rienzi, der Letzte der Tribunen&#8217;<\/a>, chosen for its\u00a0symbolism\u00a0in our current\u00a0political moment, our struggle to retain a\u00a0freedom Rienzi hoped to win for his\u00a014th-century Roman compatriots<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Orange here.
